I guess this is for those of you who have the hots for me and want to know everything there is to know about me… hah. Contact email is at the BOTTOM of this page. You will need to follow the instructions with the address if you actually want something to make it to my inbox. :)
Abathur is a pseudonym of sorts, which comes from Persian mythology. I don’t come from Iran–I’m born and raised in Lubbock, Texas. I’ll leave it up to you to determine whether that’s a good or bad thing. ;) Anyways, mythologically speaking, Abathur is the creature with the scales, the one who judges the souls of mortals as they pass into the afterlife. I’ve been using the pseudonym online for a few years and when I wanted to start a site for which the purpose was being critical, it fit.
I’m currently a senior at Texas Tech University dual majoring in creative writing and public relations (with a general business minor.) Since I seem to be enjoying this whole school thing, even though I’m a senior now, I’ll be here for a few more years. I’ve been around online for a while now, and have even had a couple of mildly popular sites, but that is in the past. This will be the first “serious” site I’ve run since I started college (I try not to take anything I do toooo seriously.)
Why the middle initial? Interesting that you should ask! It has to do with Google, and my aspirations as a creative writer. I’ve never wanted to be named Apple, or Jermajesty, but I wish my name were a little less common, so I don’t have to worry about being mistaken for a teacher, or a swimmer, or a few dead old guys, or a criminal, etc.
Some might wonder why I’m being so forthcoming with my identity. Indeed, there are more than enough reasons to keep your identity relatively private online. There are a number of reasons. For one, now I know where I stand. I don’t have to wonder about whether something I say here can come back to me–I know it can (and perhaps will.) For the reader, this means you can know that I have no delusions of anonymity when I say something here. In fact, I’ll even address such issues here from time to time. Anyways, I haven’t really said all that much about me, but I don’t imagine it is that relevant to the average reader. Perhaps if the information is in high demand, I will give the people what they want. ;)
Oh. I don’t really “offer” web-design services, but if you’re particularly interested _in_the_style_of_design_you_see_here_, I can be “convinced” to design something for you. I’ve done my stint managing sites for others and it wasn’t all that of an enjoyable experience for me, and if you’re looking for a standards compliant site, I wouldn’t recommend you have me put it together. I’ve little interest in providing multiple compatibility hacks.
Since people insist on calling me abarthur all the time–as if they couldn’t read, I’ll use this to my advantage. I’m going to tell you my email address, but I’m going to misspell it like those bastards do. There will be two errors in the following address! It’ll be a non-functioning link, at that. Hah!
